FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Local Black Women Authors Achieve #1 Amazon Bestseller Status with Groundbreaking Cancer Anthology

Detroit, MI — March 2026 — Black Women Surviving Survivorship: Our Stories. Our Strength. Our Survival Through Cancer has officially reached #1 on Amazon’s Best Sellers list for Breast Cancer eBooks and #1 on the New Releases list for Breast Cancer Paperbacks, solidifying its place as a powerful and necessary voice in the national cancer conversation.

The anthology also ranked:
• #1 in Breast Cancer (Kindle Store)
• #5 in Black & African American Biographies & Memoirs
• #6 in Breast Cancer (Books)

Featuring thirteen courageous Black women, the book documents lived experiences beyond diagnosis — addressing survivorship, medical advocacy, faith, resilience, and the emotional realities that often go unspoken.

“Black women are surviving cancer, but too often we are surviving it quietly,” said Tara Tucker, founder of Tucker Publishing House and visionary behind the project. “This book ensures our voices are not only heard — but centered.”

The anthology arrives at a critical time. According to the American Cancer Society, Black women are significantly more likely to die from breast cancer than their white counterparts, despite lower incidence rates — underscoring persistent disparities in access, care, and advocacy.

Rather than focusing solely on diagnosis and treatment, Black Women Surviving Survivorship explores what happens after the bell rings — including lymphedema, fear of recurrence, identity shifts, financial strain, and emotional recovery.

Contributing authors include Judy Lawrence Lamb, Via May-Shephard, Lisa L. Gittens, Valerie Wilder, Monica Poe, and eight additional survivors from across Michigan and beyond.

The project also honors two contributors whose lives were lost during the creation of the book. Their stories remain part of the anthology, serving as enduring testimonies of strength and legacy.

In alignment with its mission of community impact, Amazon sales from the launch campaign are supporting survivor resources through Taking Our Lives Back of Michigan, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting women and families affected by cancer.

The International Women’s Day Celebration & Book Launch will take place:
Sunday, March 8, 2026 | 3:00 PM
Life Application Ministries (Gwen’s Place)
31601 Schoenherr Road
Warren, MI 48088

The event will feature:

  • Author spotlights and live excerpt readings

  • A moderated conversation on survivorship and advocacy

  • A memorial tribute honoring two contributing authors who passed before publication.

  • Community engagement and book signing

More than a book, this anthology represents a movement — one that amplifies representation, advocacy, and healing through community.
